Biography
American Pianist and organist Christine Azzoni Dow was born in Los Angeles California. Performing from a young age in both the United States and Europe she enjoys sharing her love of music in programs that include standard repertoire as well as neglected masterpieces. Ms. Dow began the study of piano and organ with her mother Carmelita D’Addio Azzoni, a superb musician. Winner of a Music Scholarship, she earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles and her Master of Arts in Performance Degree from CSUN. Ms Dow has studied with such renowned teachers as Carol Rosenberger, Jakob Gimpel, Daniel Pollack, and Nina Scolnik. She was awarded Scholarships by the Etude Music Club, the Ebell Club, and Sigma Alpha Iota.
Ms. Dow has performed as soloist in recitals at the Old First Church of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, Biola University, Lagerstrom Chamber Concerts at Dabney Lounge, Cal Tech, Irvine Valley College, Athenaeum Music and Library Mini Concerts in La Jolla and as guest artist with the American Youth Symphony under the direction of Mehli Mehta. She has given recitals in New York’s Trinity Church Concert Series, Donnell Library Series, American Landmark Festivals, Merkin Hall, and Chicago’s Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series.
European solo appearances include piano and organ recitals at Salle Gaveau, The American Church in Paris, Princess Grace Theatre in Monaco (recorded and broadcast on Radio France), Villa Medicea del Poggio Imperiale in Florence and the Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum Concert Series in Budapest.
A chamber musician as well, Ms. Dow regularly collaborates with her sister, Sandra Azzoni Wood, violinist in presenting recitals as the Azzoni Duo. Recent performances on the West Coast include the Newport and Nixon Library Series, Classical Music Encounters of Orange County and an organ and violin recitals in “Music for Sacred Space” at Pasadena Presbyterian Church and Orange County Branch of American Guild of Organists at First Baptist Church in Santa Ana and Atelier Series in Paris France.
